Whole Chicken
Make a great weekend meal to enjoy with friends and family with our whole chicken. Our pasture-raised chickens make dinner parties great with their rich meat. The options for cooking are endless, from roasting in the oven with lovely aromatics to spatchcocking (removing the backbone and cracking the breast bone so that the chicken lays flat) and grilling or smoking it; you can let your creativity go wild with the flavor combinations.
Our favorite thing is to take fruits such as lemons, oranges, or apples and cut them in half to insert into the cavity. This gives the chicken extra moisture while cooking and lightly flavors the meat. And when you finish your feast, save the bones to make a delicious and nutritious roasted chicken stock for your favorite recipes.
The average weight of our whole chickens is around 4 lbs. Because our broiler chickens are straight-run, meaning that both male and female birds live together, they grow at different rates, so the size of the chicken can vary when processing.
Our birds have the best life possible when on our farm. When the weather permits, rotational grazing allows for the best health of the animals while also enabling proper stewardship of the pastures. They are also provided with a free choice of locally milled grains to ensure they have the best nutrients possible. Our animals are never fed animal by-products and are never given growth hormones or steroids.
